Lumberjack

Cute, easy and hearty young sleigh reindeer with a lucky history.

Description

Lumberjack (Pölläri) is a young sleigh reindeer, graduated with honors from the Reindeer Sleigh School in spring 2019.  As a calf, Lumberjack walked home from the forest grazing grounds, alone, having a block of wood, of the same size as himself, hanging on his antlers. Coming home was a smart thing to to. In the wilderness he would have been an easy catch for predators, being unable to escape fast enough.

In Finnish language, the word for a block of wood is “pölli”. Lumberjack’s Finnish name Pölläri is derived from that and the meaning of the name comes close to a lumberjack.

Lumberjack has a peaceful character but he is not the most sociable guy. He rather keeps a bit distance to people, especially to those he is not so familiar with. He is good with sleigh rides, though, and his very first working season was winter 2019-20.
