Description
Pölläri is a young sleigh reindeer, graduated – with honors – from the Reindeer Sleigh School in spring 2019. As a calf, Pölläri walked home from the forest, alone (without his mom), having a block of wood, almost the same size as himself, hanging on his antlers. Coming home was a smart thing to do. In the wilderness he would have been an easy catch for any predator, being unable to escape with this heavy load.
In Finnish language, the word for a block of wood is “pölli”. Pölläri’s name is derived from that, and the meaning of the name comes close to a lumberjack.
Pölläri has a peaceful character but he is not the most sociable one. He rather keeps a bit distance to people, especially to those he is not so familiar with. He is very good with sleigh rides, though.
